KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian police have arrested 114 people, including six Singaporeans, for participating in an initiation ceremony for a secret society.

The leader of the “Double Seven” secret society was among those nabbed in a raid conducted by the Bukit Aman anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division on a premises in Jalan Genting Klang on Saturday (Jan 18), Bernama reported.

Several samurai swords and other items used in the gang membership ritual were seized, said Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed on Monday.

The suspects arrested comprised 107 local men, a local woman, and five men and one woman from Singapore, he added.

Mr Huzir said all the suspects were remanded at the magistrates’ court and they are being investigated under Malaysia’s Societies Act. AGENCIES
