M'sian immigration officers assaulted by China nationals at KLIA2

PUTRAJAYA — Two Malaysian immigration officers sustained minor injuries when they were assaulted by two China nationals at the department’s holding area at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).

The incident took place after the duo and a third China national’s entry into Malaysia was rejected on Saturday (Aug 31).

The 12.30am incident unfolded when two Immigration officers, Mr Muhammad Firdaus and Mr Mohd Sahlan, saw two Chinese men, aged 28 and 30, loitering in the holding area designated for women. They were with a 33-year-old Chinese woman.

The duo were instructed to move to the men’s holding area, but refused.

They then raised their voices and acted aggressively towards the officers.

“One of them pushed and punched at Firdaus’s chest, while another one punched Sahlan.

“They were then stopped by other immigration officers, who were on duty.

“Both Firdaus and Sahlan suffered minor injuries like bruises and small cuts,” said Immigration Department director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

He said the three China nationals were issued with “Not To Land” (NTL) notices, which prevented them from entering Malaysia, under Section 8(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.

They were issued the notices as their entry into the country were deemed dubious.

Mr Khairul said a police report was lodged by the officers.

The three Chinese nationals have since been deported back to their country and blacklisted from entering Malaysia in the future. NEW STRAITS TIMES
