PETALING JAYA — Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's estranged son-in-law Datuk Fazley Yaakob says he does not harbour ill feelings towards his mother-in-law.

The celebrity chef and his wife Datin Azrene Soraya Abdul Aziz, Rosmah's daughter from her previous marriage to Abdul Aziz Nong Chik, have always regarded Madam Rosmah as their biological mother, he told mStar Online.

"Throughout our 11 years of marriage, we have always prayed for Rosmah to open her heart to our family," Mr Fazley told mStar.

Mr Fazley wedded Ms Azrene in 2007, much to the disapproval of Mdm Rosmah, who introduced the couple.

Soon after former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's Barisan National coalition suffered a shock defeat in last week's general election, Ms Azrene took to social media to expose the turmoil she and her husband faced from Mdm Rosmah.

Mr Fazley said that the revelation was part of his late father Datuk Yaakob Mohammad's final will, not as a means to shame any party.

"In my late father's will, he requested me to tell the truth about me, my wife and him at the right time.

"I think this is a good time to share my family's story," Mr Fazley said.

Just four days ago, he shared an old picture of him and Mdm Rosmah on Instagram, accompanied by a detailed post.

"The famous handshake that all of those she despises has encountered. Looks like I wasn't spared," Mr Fazley wrote.

Mr Fazley explained in the post that Mdm Rosmah was the one who introduced him to Ms Azrene, but when things got serious and he asked Rosmah for her daughter's hand in marriage, she rejected him.

"Then she asked her witch doctors if we were good for each other."

"Her witch doctor said, 'The boy is good for the girl and vice versa, but your power won't work on them, his family has too many religious members of the family. For every son she has as a result of this union, your power will decrease'," wrote the father of four, who also shared Ms Azrene's post.

He concluded the Instagram post by saying Ms Azrene still very much loves her mother but sadly, it was one-sided.

Mr Fazley also thanked Mdm Rosmah on Mother's Day on Instagram with the message, "No matter what has happened, the bond between a mother and child can never be broken."

Malay Mail is in the process of contacting Mdm Rosmah for an official response. MALAY MAIL
