SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 86 new cases of Covid-19, including 13 that are imported and the remaining 73 linked to migrant workers staying in dormitories. There were no new community cases on Friday (Sept 11), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
In its press release, MOH said that an imported case it announced earlier on Friday has been removed following its investigation.
“(The woman) has presented medical records documenting that she had earlier recovered from Covid-19 infection and is no longer infectious,” it said.
Among the fresh cases, a majority — or 85 infections — are asymptomatic, MOH added.
It has also identified one new cluster of infections in foreign worker dormitories: The SCM Tuas Lodge.
Of the 73 cases in dormitories, 33 are from a recent cluster at Avery Lodge Dormitory near Pandan Reservoir. They had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases and most of them had been placed on quarantine earlier and were tested during quarantine to determine their status.
One other case was identified previously by MOH and the remaining 39 were detected through surveillance testing, such as the ministry's fortnightly Rostered Routine Testing and the testing of those with acute respiratory infection symptoms.
The 13 new imported cases comprise three Singaporeans, seven permanent residents, two dependant’s pass holders and one student’s pass holder.
They had arrived in Singapore from Egypt, India, the Philippines and the United States between Aug 27 and 30.
All of them had been placed on a 14-day stay-home notice and tested positive while serving their notices at dedicated facilities.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of three cases a day in the week before to an average of two a day in the past week.
The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has also gone down from an average of two cases a day in the week before to an average of one a day in the past week.
UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES
The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,315.
Of these, 56,607 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 49 on Friday.
There are still 49 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.
Another 632 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.
Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
