SINGAPORE — More thundery showers are expected in the coming fortnight, with total rainfall during the second half of November set to be above average, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said.

These may be in the form of short-duration thundery showers over parts of the island on most afternoons, with some extending into the evening on a few days.

They may also be widespread and heavier on some of these days.

The warm, humid conditions are set to persist in the coming fortnight, with the daily temperature on most days likely to range between 24°C and 34°C, and around 35°C on some days.

Overall, the total rainfall is forecast to be above average over most parts of the island during this period, the weather agency said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 16). 

In its review of November’s weather condition for the first fortnight, the weather agency said that the highest daily total rainfall of 69.7mm was recorded at Woodlands on Nov 7. Most parts of the island recorded below-average rainfall in the first fortnight.

In the same period, the daily maximum temperature was above 33°C on most days, with the highest temperature of 35.8°C recorded at Newton on Nov 3.

This tied with the record for highest daily maximum temperature in the month of November here since temperature records started in 1929.

The last time the highest daily maximum temperature for November was recorded was in Admiralty on Nov 18, 2019.
