SINGAPORE — With Singapore traditionally seen as a stopover destination for people travelling around Asia or a concert destination for regional fans, Singaporeans are all too used to hearing tourists complain about how "expensive" or "boring" the city is.
British tourist and content creator Ieuan Jones, however, was a breath of fresh air in his latest TikTok video, in which he filmed his excitement at visiting Gardens by the Bay last Tuesday (Jan 30).
"Enjoy a chaotic vlog (video log) completing one of my BUCKET LIST THINGS," he captioned the video, which was posted last Wednesday.
In the vlog, the 25-year-old can be seen getting visibly excited as he tells the camera: "I'm boiling, I'm sweating from every single hole in my body.
"But I'm about to do a bucket list thing and I literally — I've wanted to do this for years — and I can't ****ing believe I'm here!"

This introduction is followed by a series of clips that show Mr Jones gushing over the scenic views, interspersed with comedic moments including photobombing other tourists, inadvertently joining a school tour group and getting misled by a sign for the lift.
"Oh... my... god!" he exclaims when he first sets eyes on the Gardens' iconic Supertrees. "I actually can't believe I'm here... I could cry."
Sharing that other visitors have even gone up to him to ask if he was okay, Mr Jones explains that visiting the garden has simply "been on (his) bucket list for years", meaning it was one of the places he wanted to see before he dies.
As the camera pans across the Supertree Grove, he continues: "Look at this view, like — what is my life?!
"Sorry, but that is probably one of the best things I've ever seen in my life."
He has a similar reaction upon entering the Cloud Forest, remarking: "Look how pretty this is? Is this a joke?"
After some entertaining commentary on various features in the conservatory, Mr Jones ends his video with a high-pitched shout: "Yeah!"
As of Monday afternoon, the video has attracted 287,400 views, 37,400 likes and 410 comments, with many Singaporean social media users returning the same enthusiasm for his "infectious energy".

A top response to Mr Jones' video went: "I've literally never seen someone so excited in Singapore, it's so refreshing."
Another said: "Awww, this is so wholesome! Glad you enjoyed GBTB (Gardens by the Bay)."
Many Singaporeans also thanked Mr Jones for "loving Singapore" and for sharing his experience, saying that his video had made them "swell with pride" for the country and appreciate it more.
One commented: "Thanks for reminding us that Singapore is pretty nice. Many things to be thankful for."
Another declared: "As a Singaporean... I've never been there, but you hyped it up so I'm going to go."
Others congratulated him for ticking the gardens off his bucket list and offered recommendations of their own, such as hawker centres and the MegaZip flying fox on Sentosa Island.
One TikTok user said: "May the hawker auntie give you extra chickens always."
Responding to TODAY's queries on Monday, Mr Jones said he had made a two-day stop in Singapore as part of a larger Southeast Asia trip. In fact, he had cut short the Thailand leg of his trip in order to head to Singapore early as he was "just so excited" to visit the Gardens.
"I had seen it online so many years ago and I just knew it was somewhere I wanted and needed to go," he shared. "My experience at the Gardens was everything and more, I could not believe my dream became my reality."
Mr Jones was also heartened by the positive reactions to his video from Singaporeans, saying: "The reactions (on) my TikTok video are why I do what I do. And I love that I can make people feel a certain way about their own culture! It's so rewarding."
He added that he was "gutted" he had only two days in Singapore, but "knows for a fact" that he will be back.
